Week in Review: June 16 — 22

Hello everyone, I hope you had an amazing Father’s Day! The featured image this week is a couple pictures of Chris with our infant children. They used to be so tiny! It’s hard to remember how small babies are when they start out. But we’ll get a fresh new reminder not too long from now.

You may or may not have noticed the lack of other posts this week. That is because I was helping out with Xander’s Twilight Camp (cub scout day camp), teaching the kids about conservation of our ocean wildlife. I did surprisingly well, considering my social anxiety. I may give that experience a post of its own, so I won’t go into too much detail here.

Headed off to Twilight Camp!

Xander had a lot of fun at camp. There were a lot of different art projects he got to do and bring home with him, there were obstacle courses, there were BB guns, there was archery. All the things a boy of nearly 8 could want to do. When all the camp activities ended, we gathered together at the amphitheater where they usually had a special event. We got to talk to a scuba diver, pet an armadillo and even watch a guy carve a bear out of wood with his chainsaw! As you can imagine, these long days in the hot sun left me quite tired, as pregnant as I am, and I came home exhausted.

End of the day “Camp Fire” (without a fire)

I am finally in my third trimester, can you believe it! This was my 28th week of pregnancy. The baby is apparently about the size of an eggplant, but it must have some stretchy arms and legs because I can feel it everywhere, though mostly it seems quite content to lay right across my pelvis and kick me in the hip.

I was surprised that my feet didn’t balloon up much this week, seeing as I was doing so much standing and walking. I feel almost like a normal human, which is surprising, considering my history with pregnancy. The pelvic pain is still an issue, but that’s probably expected. I’ve found some stretches that help reduce it, and a sleeping position that is almost comfortable. Chris does occasionally complain about the body pillow in the middle of the bed, but I just remind him “less than 12 more weeks.” And I’ve consistently delivered early, so we’ll see if that holds true with this one.

I don’t recall if it is the first time she has noticed, but the other day, Lili realized she had something on her arm and tried to scratch it off.

“That’s your freckle.” I told her. “It belongs to you.” And I showed her that I also have several on my arms.

Now every time she notices that someone has freckles she says “Look! They have sparkles!” Or “They have sprinkles, too!” Which I think is just so stinking cute that I had to add it in to this weeks update.

It’s her “sparkle”
