It’s the End of June, but Here’s an Update

It has been quite a while since I last posted. Things have gotten very busy, very quickly, but I promised myself, I would not let another year slip by where I did nothing to further my career.

The past two months seem to have snowballed, despite the heat. First, it was the end of the school year keeping me busy with all the normal end-of-year tasks, such as large projects, papers, and… well, grading large projects and papers. After that, it was just one thing after the next, and it seemed like we were busy with something every weekend, and most of the rest of the week.

My husband and I did get to spend a weekend in Encinitas, CA with some friends, so that was a nice turn of events. My three-year-old hasn’t spent a night without me in her life, and the other two haven’t been without me since the three-year-old’s birth. It was good to be able to leave them with a trusted family friend and be together with my husband just as a couple again. It also gave me the opportunity to discuss with my three-year-old, who is going through a developmental attachment phase, that I will, indeed, return home again. That I will not just leave her and never come back. She took that lesson to heart… for about a day. But it’s a work in progress.

As we head into July, we find ourselves just as busy, but there should be downtime in which I will find moments such as these to continue my writing.

I had planned to discuss PTSD more, since June is PTSD awareness month, but didn’t get much of an opportunity, so I’m thinking I will extend those posts into July since PTSD awareness is something very important to me.

I hope that you are well and able to relax over the summer, and I look forward to posting more soon.

S.M. Jentzen is a former behavioralist turned author. Here she discusses neurodivergence (eg. ADHD and autism) and mental health (eg. anxiety and depression) and how they impact not only her writing but how she raises her three children (all of whom have neurodivergences of their own) and her life in general.
