It has been long known that there are many benefits to regular exercise. I’ve always placed exercise as something of relative importance in my struggle to stay healthy both mentally and physically. Of course, actually getting around to doing the exercise as often as I feel I should has been only marginally successful, thanks to the difficulties of being consistent while having ADHD, but I never stopped to consider that not only is exercise important in general, it may be particularly important in helping to alleviate some of the symptoms of my ADHD.
It’s Okay to Need Medication
One of my pet peeves is when people say stuff like “If the medication were working, you wouldn’t have to keep taking it.”
That’s crap.
The medication IS working.
That’s WHY you keep taking it.
Why I Don’t Punish My Three Year Old
The other day, a picture I took of my daughter throwing a small tantrum was featured on one of those Instagram accounts that highlights photos parents have snapped during a child’s tantrums. I was very excited and thankful for the free publicity, so I clicked the link to see if anyone had liked or commented on the picture. It had received several likes, but the only comment left thus far on the picture was that of a woman who had felt the need to make it public that she would no longer be following this account because, although she enjoyed the parenting memes, she did not appreciate the regular posting of pictures of children in the throes of a tantrum.
