How Is Your Writing Going?

How Is Your Writing Going?

My first book, published back in July, was called My Body Is My Own, and it broke down the idea of bodily autonomy in a way that young children would be able to comprehend.

I wish I could say it sold a million copies, but it did not. I did sell several, mostly to members of my own family and friends. I appreciate their support, as it spurs me to continue striving for what I believe in and keep writing messages for children to help them navigate this sometimes harsh world we live in.

My second book was released at the end of last month, but I’ve been so busy with homeschooling my kids and life in general that I did not have time to promote it, so here it is, an announcement a few weeks late, but my second book, I Love You Even Though I’m Gone, is now available on Amazon, both as a paperback and digitally.

Now available on Amazon as both paperback and digital copies

This book seeks to help kids process their grief. To understand that even though we may lose someone we love, they are never really gone as long as they are in the hearts and minds of those who loved them.

I dedicated this book to the memory of my uncle, who died in May of 2019. He left behind many wonderful grandchildren and even great-grandchildren, whom he cultivated relationships with, and their love for him (and my own,) inspired me to write this book.

The last two pages of the book are line drawings that you can feel free to color, however, in case you do not wish to color the ones inside the book, I also have them available below for free to print out and color as you so choose.

The woman who did the art for this book, Natalia Acuña, is a friend of mine and my husband, who aided in us getting together in a way that only she could, even from a different country and though we did not know her yet. Her art brings the book to life, as it brought me and my husband to life in this picture she drew for us when she heard about our engagement and her role in our relationship. I felt extremely fortunate to be able to have her do artwork for me, as she is very busy with work of her own.

An engagement gift from the talented Natalia Acuña

For now, you can find copies of both of my books available on Amazon, but I hope to be able to sell them from my website in the near future. I hope you will enjoy the stories and relate to the message.

S.M. Jentzen is a former behavioralist turned author. Here she discusses neurodivergence (eg. ADHD and autism) and mental health (eg. anxiety and depression) and how they impact not only her writing but how she raises her three children (all of whom have neurodivergences of their own) and her life in general.
